Horse RacingTour de France organisers stop Chris Froome from starting race in 6 days

January 18, 2020

ASO (Tour de France organisers) have excluded Chris Froome from the Tour de France because his participation may “damage the image or reputation of ASO”.

Froome tested positive for elevated levels of Salbutamol, an asthma drug, at the Vuelta (last September). Salbutamol is not a banned substance, but a regulated substance that can be used at permissable levels. Froome tested positive for twice the permitted level. The case is still ongoing.

Froome currently holds the Vuelta, Giro d’Italia and Tour de France titles. His team, Sky, will appeal the ASO decision.
